Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
All custodian accounts responsible for managing datasets are required to setup Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on their first login. This will ensure the identity of the account owner and protect from unauthorised account access.
Once you have received your account details from the Data.gov.au support team. Follow these steps to successfully setup MFA for the account.
- Navigate to the Log in page. Enter your supplied username and password. Click Next.
- You will be prompted with a QR code and a secret key.
- Download an Authenticator app on your mobile device. The recommended app is Microsoft Authenticator.
- Open the app and add an account.
- Select the type of account you want. Select Scan QR code.
- Scan the QR code on Data.gov.au Login page.
- The authenticator app will display a new entry in your accounts called Data.gov.au with your username displayed below it.
- Enter the 6 digit code displayed on your Mobile into the Data.gov.au Login page. Click Submit.
- MFA is successfully setup now. Each time you login you will be prompted to enter a 6 digit code from the authenticator app. Click Submit.
